As a wedding photographer, I know certain venues always hold a special place in your heart, and Birtsmorton Court is undoubtedly one of mine. Nestled in the picturesque Worcestershire countryside, this historic moated manor house provides a breathtaking backdrop for any couple’s big day. When Ryan and Crystal chose me to capture their wedding at Birtsmorton Court, I knew it was going to be an unforgettable experience.

The Stunning Setting of Birtsmorton Court
There’s something truly magical about Birtsmorton Court. Dating back to the 13th century, this venue combines timeless elegance with modern touches, making it one of the most sought-after wedding venues in Worcestershire. Surrounded by a serene moat and nestled among lush gardens, the manor offers endless opportunities for stunning wedding photography. One of the standout features of Birtsmorton is its exclusive-use policy, meaning couples and their guests have the entire venue to themselves. This not only adds to the intimacy of the day but also allows for full creative freedom when capturing those once-in-a-lifetime moments.
A Joyful Start: Bridal Prep at Birtsmorton Court
Crystal’s wedding morning began in the charming Bridal Suite at Birtsmorton Court, a light-filled space that’s as elegant as it is comfortable. The suite’s vintage-inspired décor and large windows provided the perfect backdrop for capturing the excitement and emotion of the morning. Crystal’s bridal party was in high spirits, with laughter and anticipation filling the air as they helped her prepare. Her gown—a breathtaking lace number with intricate detailing—hung on display, waiting for its moment to shine.
A Perfect Ceremony in the Garden Room
The ceremony took place in Birtsmorton’s Garden Room, a stunning space with a romantic and intimate atmosphere. The room’s large windows allow natural light to flood in, making it a dream setting for photography. Decorated with seasonal flowers and delicate greenery, the room was transformed into a fairytale-like setting. Ryan arrived just before the ceremony, his excitement and nerves evident as he greeted family and friends. As Crystal walked down the aisle, the room fell silent, every eye on her as she made her way to Ryan. Capturing the look of love and awe on Ryan’s face as he saw her for the first time was one of the highlights of the day. The ceremony itself was filled with personal touches, from heartfelt vows to a reading chosen by Ryan’s mother, Sue. The intimacy of the Garden Room made every moment feel even more special, with the couple surrounded by their closest family and friends.
Exploring the Grounds: A Photographer’s Dream
One of the greatest joys of photographing a wedding at Birtsmorton Court is the opportunity to explore its incredible grounds. After the ceremony, we took advantage of the venue’s many stunning locations for portraits of Ryan and Crystal. The moat provides a dramatic and romantic backdrop, its still waters reflecting the couple as they share quiet moments together. The white garden, with its perfectly manicured hedges and delicate blooms, added a touch of elegance to their portraits. At the same time, the woodland area brought a more natural and whimsical vibe to the photos. We also made sure to capture some shots on the bridge over the moat, one of Birtsmorton’s most iconic features. As the sunlight filtered through the trees, it created a magical golden glow that made these images truly unforgettable.
A Delightful Reception in the Marquee
The reception was held in the Marquee, a bright and airy space that blends seamlessly with the surrounding gardens. Decorated with soft florals, fairy lights, and elegant table settings, the marquee exuded a timeless charm. The speeches were a perfect mix of humoir and heartfelt moments, with Ryan and Crystal’s families sharing stories that had everyone laughing and crying equally. As a photographer, I always love capturing these candid reactions—moments that tell the day’s story just as much as formal portraits do. The catering was another highlight, with a delicious menu that had guests raving. Birtsmorton Court’s reputation for exceptional food was on full display, adding yet another layer of perfection to an already incredible day.
A Magical Evening
As the sun set over Birtsmorton Court, the evening celebrations kicked off with Ryan and Crystal’s first dance. The marquee was transformed into a dance floor, with twinkling lights above creating a romantic atmosphere. The couple swayed to their chosen song, surrounded by the warmth and joy of their loved ones.
Later in the evening, we stepped outside for some twilight photos by the moat. The soft glow of the venue’s lighting reflected beautifully on the water, creating a magical setting for some truly cinematic shots. These moments captured the essence of their day—romance, beauty, and the magic of Birtsmorton Court.
Why Birtsmorton Court Is the Perfect Wedding Venue
Ryan and Crystal’s wedding was a testament to why Birtsmorton Court is one of Worcestershire’s most beloved wedding venues. From the historic manor house to the enchanting gardens and exceptional service, every detail is designed to make a couple’s dream day a reality.
As a wedding photographer, I’m always inspired by the venue’s versatility. Whether you’re planning a summer wedding surrounded by blooming flowers or a cozy winter celebration in the Garden Room, Birtsmorton Court provides a stunning backdrop for every season.
